ASKED QUESTIONS
WHY DO I NEED A TRADEMARK?
ALLOWS YOU TO LEGALIZE YOUR DESIGNATION:
When coordinating outdoor advertising, when used on the site, when placed on marketplaces, etc. You do not violate the designation of others, because you use your own, which has been examined for compliance with other designations in the Russian Federation.
GIVES "WEIGHT" TO YOUR BUSINESS.
With a trademark, the business goes to a higher level. Large companies have entire portfolios of trademarks. Why not be a little like them?

LOWS YOU TO PACKAGE THE SALE OF YOUR BUSINESS INTO ONE PACKAGE.
For example, you own a small print shop and at one point decide to sell your business.
⠀⠀
How will you do this?
You can renegotiate the lease of the premises, you can sell the equipment, formalize the transfer of employees, transfer the administration of the website and social media accounts.
But these are all separate aspects that do not identify the business.
However, you can just sell your trademark, and whoever buys it can find new premises, buy new equipment, hire new employees, etc., while he will have the main thing — he can operate under the already promoted brand, put it in the sign, on the site, etc.
GIVES THE RIGHT TO EFFECTIVELY DEFEND THE DESIGNATION AGAINST INFRINGEMENT, IN COURT OR BEFORE THE ANTITRUST AGENCY.
There is no need to prove and justify the date of creation of the designation - a trademark has a registration date, and it is from that date it will be protected. There is also no need to justify that this right belongs to you - you are mentioned in the registration as the right holder.
WHEN TO REGISTER A TRADEMARK?
BEFORE YOU OPEN YOUR BUSINESS
The ideal time to register your trademark is before you open your business. That is, at the stage of opening a sole proprietorship/LLC, bank account or earlier.
In order to have a trademark by the time you start your business - you have to file an application 3-8 months in advance (more often, you get a trademark for a shorter period).
HOW LONG DOES A TRADEMARK LAST?
A TRADEMARK IS VALID FOR 10 YEARS.
A trademark is valid for 10 years from the date of registration, with possibility of unlimited extensions.

That is, after about 9.5 years of use (when the renewal period comes up), the applicant pays the fee and the mark is valid for another 10 years.
And so on an unlimited number of times.
WHAT TO DO IF THE SIGN IS NO LONGER NEEDED?
YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO ANYTHING.
If the sign is no longer needed, you do not need to do an extension when it expires, and it will automatically expire.
